Parliament, Wednesday, 07 September 2022 – Both Houses of Parliament, the National Assembly (NA) and the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will tomorrow convene their virtual Programming Committee meetings at 08:30 to plan for the business of Parliament.

The main agenda items for consideration at these meetings include the draft parliamentary programme, committee reports, and Bills before the NCOP and NA, respectively.

Later on, at 2 pm, the NA will hold a hybrid plenary session to debate an Urgent Matter of National Public Importance, themed: “Persistent illegal mining activities concomitant crimes.”

During the same sitting the House will also consider several committee reports that include:

  1. Report of the Portfolio Committee (PC) on Communications on Recommendation of candidates to fill two vacancies on Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) Board.
  2. Report of PC on Justice and Correctional Services on Traditional Courts Bill [B 1D – 2017].
  3. Report of PC on Mineral Resources and Energy on Request for Approval by Parliament of Revised African Regional Co-operative Agreement for Research, Development and Training Related to Nuclear Science and Technology (AFRA) Agreement.
  4. Report of PC on Transport on Request for Approval by Parliament of International Convention on the Civil Liability for Bunkers Oil Pollution Damage, 2001.
  5. Report of PC on Public Accounts on Oversight visit to South African Post Office (SAPO) in Johannesburg and Pretoria from 2 to 3 December 2021.
  6. Report of PC on Public Accounts on Oversight visit to ESKOM and its infrastructure projects of Medupi and Kusile, from 20 to 22 April 2022.
