Political Leadership Background

My political career started in 1968 when I went to Johannesburg Baragwanath Hospital to train as a nurse. I was fortunately allocated in a ward where Mrs Nomazotsho Gqabi was a sister in charge. We became friends and she introduced me to her husband’s associates. I met a lot of ANC activists including Welile Ntlapho, Billy Masetla and Wallie Serote. On completion of my degree, I went to Durban to study midwifery. I was in the same class as Nosidima Pityana and we joined SASO. I was arrested in 1970 in the same trail as Amos Masondo was Acquitted. I was instructed by the ANC to leave the country after my second arrest. I went into exile in 1978. I did my military training in Benguela and Quibashe then went to school in Cuba where I completed my degree in Medicine. After completing my degree I worked in Zimbabwe where I headed the ANC Health Desk. On my return in 1991, I joined the ANC Branch until I went to Dutywa. Since then, I served in that branch and in the Provincial ANC and Veterans League.

Political Ideas / Achievements Goals & Ambitions for the country

My political idol is the late President Mandela for all his teachings. I wish that all MPs could stick to his (the late President Mandela)’s ideals and that the ultimate goal is to rid our people of all poverty and social ills. I would also like to see a South Africa free of all unemployment and all children schooling
